About Fabrika
This year, Polish Association NI in Association with Czech and Slovak Association NI has sought to broaden the scope and ambition of the festival by joining forces with other eastern European countries to create a larger festival: Fabrika - Festival of Eastern Europe. The countries involved include Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic,. Northern Ireland has welcomed many migrants from these countries over the last number of years - migrants who have come here to work, to study, to play, to live - basically those same things that all humans seek to do whether Irish, British, Estonian or Czech. And so Fabrika aims to celebrate these common traits and aspirations of our fellow humans and our fellow Europeans. And it will do this in a week-long festival of cultural and community-based events celebrating our diversity and commonality as Europeans.

Emigrants by the Wicza Theatere
The performance takes place in a 33-year-old Mercedes L 508 D. It is a sort of a camper van, used for traveling for a long time without having to return home. Our first thought upon seeing it was – it is a house for emigrants! We have altered our approach to the drama by Mrożek, by pasting it into the current and realistic both here (in Poland, entering the EU) and there (in Western Europe) situation. The modern “Drzymała’s cart” becomes the location for the drama’s action. The limited space, allowing to let in only 11 persons (actors and spectators) creates the atmosphere of a reality show. In this situation, the car becomes our (actors and spectators) house, with which we enter (literally and metaphorically) Europe. Just as in any other house, we go to the bathroom, watch TV, eat, sleep… €migrants (the title written with the Euro sign € instead of E) by The Wicza Theater, directed by Romuald Wicza – Pokojski, one of the most gifted dramatists and directors of the young generation, is the first European premiere in a camping van.
